Friends & Fall Bikepacking Weekend

Join us for an exciting weekend of biking and adventure in the South Platte near 11-Mile Canyon. Get ready to explore the beautiful gravel roads and immerse yourself in the stunning fall scenery of Colorado. Whether you're a seasoned bikepacker or a beginner, this event is perfect for all skill levels.

What to expect:

We'll be heading out on a mellow party-pace gravel ride through the beautiful land of the Colorado Outdoor Education Center. After 12 or so miles of steady climbing, we'll begin our descent into the breathtaking waters of the South Platte River, in 11-Mile Canyon. There will be time for a cool dip, campfire chats, and lots of laughs before dinner. The following day we'll pack up our camp and bikes and head back up the hill to our cars and say our goodbyes.

We'll have a sag vehicle haul any needed gear, food, or equipment to the campsites when we depart. Feel free to bring comfy items to have at camp that may not fit on our bikes.

Draft Schedule:

Friday Meetup & Campout at COEC - Dinner & shelters provided

Saturday Morning - Outfit bikes with gear and bags and roll out! (Breakfast & lunch provided by group - See MEALS below)

Saturday Afternoon/Evening - arrive at campground and set up camp. Post-ride hang out! (Dinner provided by group - see MEALS below)

Sunday Morning - Pack up camp and climb back to COEC for departure.

This is a private event, so please confirm your registration before arriving.

Can't Stop Won't Stop Film Tour

As a high schooler in the public-housing projects of Richmond, Virginia’s East End, Monte Cosby felt his future was limited—until mountain bikes offered him a different route forward.

In the years since, the bike has served as the bridge between two different worlds and a vehicle to overcome the struggles along the way. Monte's story is captured in Patagonia's most recent documentary, "Monte: Can’t stop. Won’t stop."

Monte is a student and member of the Cycling Team at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina and is set to graduate this year. Patagonia is going on tour this spring to share the film, starting at WWC. At each stop, we’ll be sharing Monte’s story, bringing communities together and offering skills clinics for riders of all levels. Jalen Bazile, our film tour host and professional outdoorsman, will kick off each event with a mountain bike expedition workshop, during which he will share skills for all-day or multiday trips—from bikepacking and backcountry pro tips, to building your repair kit and route planning. After the screening, he’ll be hosting a Q&A with Monte and the director to answer any burning questions you may have.

Tickets are FREE and this event is open to the public. Space is limited, so reserve your seat now!

Event lineup:

5-6PM: Film tour host and professional outdoorsman, Jalen Bazile, shares the foundational to advanced skills for all-day or multiday mountain bike expeditions, from bikepacking pro tips and backcountry tricks to building your repair kit and route planning. Tabling with Richmond Cycling Corps: The Richmond Cycling Corps is a local nonprofit organization that uses cycling as a tool to create engagement with youth. While cycling is one of our main programs, at the heart, our organization is serving disadvantaged youth who live in public housing. Light food and drinks available and we’ll be raffling off some Patagonia gear!

The goal of the group ride is to celebrate our diverse community of aspiring and experienced outdoors people and bikepackers.
