With over a decade of experience spanning roles from camp counselor and outdoor instructor to trail steward and program director, Jalen’s journey has been shaped by mentorship from some of the industry's most renowned educators. As a certified emotional intelligence coach, he brings an empathetic, growth-oriented approach to his work—empowering individuals to unlock their potential and embrace adventure as a pathway to personal and professional development. Jalen’s passion lies in cultivating the next generation of outdoor professionals by sharing his deep-rooted knowledge, fostering community engagement, and inspiring meaningful connections with nature.

Jalen’s athletic journey began in high school and evolved into ultra-endurance sports in his twenties. As a cyclist and trail runner, he has pushed his body and mind to their limits, completing races of up to 600 miles. Sponsored by renowned outdoor brands like Patagonia, Giant Bicycles, SRAM, and Teravail Tires, Jalen embodies strength, perseverance, and a deep passion for the wild. These values drive his work as a guide and facilitator, inspiring others to embrace challenges and grow through outdoor adventures.

Outdoorsman
At his core, Jalen identifies most with being an outdoorsman. By luck, he was apart of the last generation to play outside until the streets lights came on, thus developing his connection to the land. His family’s farm, where he helps care for animals like pigs, chickens, and horses, has deepened his respect for the natural world and its cycles. He believes the role of an outdoorsman is to not only be skilled in outdoor pursuits but to create brave spaces where others can engage with nature and, in turn, themselves. Jalen sees his work as more than just guiding people through physical landscapes—he sees it as guiding them toward a deeper understanding of their place in the world. Through Travl Wide, Jalen combines his love for nature, adventure, and personal development to offer transformative experiences that invite people to reconnect with the earth.
